More grandmother letters
You were born on October 11th at 6:35PM. It seemed like eternity from the time your parents got admitted to the hospital until the time we got to see you.
We all were so sad but your mom felt so empty now. She no longer got to feel you inside her tummy where she thought you were safe. She doesn't think she protected you because that's what moms do but in this case she didn't have any control of how you moved around in her tummy. It was an accident. I too had no control how to save your mom from the tragic accident and pain. You see, moms are superhero's that can do most anything but on that day there were two mom's that lost their special powers. We are now trying to get back those powers because us moms have allot of work ahead of us. Some of what lays ahead we don't even know but we will be ready......that's just what moms do!
We came home without you on a Thursday. It was very hard leaving you behind and so many nights as your mom would try to fall asleep she couldn't because she couldn't bare the thought of you being alone in the hospital. I would tell her that you weren't alone, your Grams and grandpa were rocking you to sleep among the stars,.
Mornings and as it gets dark are very sad times for your mom and I. Mornings, because we wake up to find out that this nightmare of not having you here has not ended.
I think you know that evenings are hard because each night you send us a beautiful sunset, letting us know you are there. Yesterday, was a cloudy day all day until evening, and there you were again, right on time with your sunset. I don;t want to put pressure on you to always bring us that little ray of sunshine every evening as I know its not possible but it sure has helped us get stronger.
Talk about strong!!! Did I mention how strong your mom is?! I know I told you that she is a superhero but that is a recent power that she got when she became a mom. Your mom has always had a strength like no other.( I am actually laying in bed writing to you and there is a baby picture of your mom making a big muscle to show how strong she is)
Your mom got burned as a child which was really painful but she hardly shed a tear. She saved our house from burning too!
She has always stood up for what she felt was right, even if others did not. She never backs down! (which as a child she was a challenge) Always said she should have been a lawyer. Did I mention that your mom is beautiful?! Oh, I forgot, you are our little angel now and you can see just how beautiful she is!
Passion. That is another word that describes your mom. She is so passionate about life itself which is how I know she is going to get through not having you here. I would fill this domain with her passions which wouldn't leave any room to keep writing to you, so just know that everything that your mom does in work, play, and throughout her day, is filled with such passion.
